Ferroviario Beira opened East Division with the win over Matero Magic 63-57 on their way to BAL 2023. The team from Mozambique started with a 21-14 run and added a 16-9 rally in the second frame. Matero Magic meanwhile played better in the second half and replied with two narrow wins for the final result.
William Perry (182-PG-1994, college: Lenoir-Rhyne) top-scored for the winners with 24 points and Michael Murray (196-SF-1991, college: Coppin St.) collected 17 points and 12 rebounds. Chongo Chona (G/F-1991) answered with 11 points in the losing effort.
